Embroidery FAQ
Straight answers to the questions we get asked the most about custom embroidery, digitising, turnaround and pricing.
What types of items can you embroider?
We embroider on clothing items you supply: polo shirts, t-shirts, hoodies, caps, bags, towels, jackets and many other fabric items. Our machines handle a wide range of fabrics and thicknesses.
What is the minimum order quantity?
No minimum. We embroider a single item for individuals all the way through to several-hundred-piece corporate runs.
How long does the embroidery process take?
Typical turnaround is 5–7 business days for most orders, measured from the day we have both your stock and your approved digitised logo in hand. Urgent rush orders can usually be accommodated — message us before placing the brief and we'll give you a straight answer.
Do you provide the garments or do I need to supply them?
You supply your own garments and accessories. This keeps you in control of fabric, colour, sizing and supplier — we focus purely on the embroidery. We don't stock blank garments and we don't on-sell apparel.
What file formats do you accept for my logo?
Vector (best): AI, PDF.
Raster (workable): high-resolution PNG, JPG, GIF.
If all you have is a small logo lifted from a website, send it through anyway — we'll tell you honestly whether it'll digitise cleanly or whether it needs to be redrawn first. Read more about logo digitising.
What does logo digitising actually involve?
Embroidery machines don't read graphics the way printers do — they read a stitch file that defines exactly where every needle move goes. Digitising is the process of converting your logo into that file by hand, choosing stitch types, setting underlays and densities for the fabric, and mapping thread colours to actual Marathon stocks. It's the single biggest factor in how a finished embroidered logo looks.
How does pricing work?
Embroidery is priced per garment, based on the stitch count of your logo and the placement. WhatsApp us your logo and a note about the garments and quantities you want branded — we'll come back with a written quote, usually the same business day. Logo digitising is a once-off cost charged the first time we set up your design.
What embroidery machines do you use?
We use industrial embroidery machines — the standard for professional commercial embroidery — with cap-frame attachments for headwear. Every stitch is run in-house on our shop floor; nothing is sub-contracted.
Where are you based?
Our studio is at Unit 42, Barbeque Corner, 27 Dytchley Road, Kyalami, 1684, Gauteng, South Africa, just north of Johannesburg. See our contact page for directions.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00. Closed on weekends.
How do I submit an order?
WhatsApp Louise to discuss your brief, or sign in to our customer portal to upload artwork and submit an order online.
Do you charge a separate digitising fee?
Logo digitising is a once-off cost per design. Once your logo is digitised, every future order runs from the same stitch file at no further digitising charge.
